1. Demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts
related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Educational Technology
Standards for Students)
2. Demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay
abreast of current and emerging technologies."
Bitter, G. G., & Legacy, J. M. (2008). Using technology in the classroom (7th ed.). Boston, MA: Pearson Education.
This is important because the instructor has to be able to do what he/she is asking of the student. If the instructor doesn't have the basic knowledge of technology, how can he/she teach the student? For example, I am an instructor. If I do not know the information I'm teaching my students, I lose credibility with them regarding the subject matter. If I do not have the basic knowledge I am unable to break down terms, concepts and applications to the lowest possible level which does not help the learner.

C. [More Effective Than Others] Depends on the requirements of the learner or organization needing this type of communication/learning. Schools who clearly articulated visions of technology integration were found to have more effective uses of technology. Enables a corporation to coordinate the efforts of all its branches to best meet the needs of its customers. It is an effective means of keeping business healthy. Computers will become more effective teachers, listening to the students, responding according to information stored in memory, and then storing information away for later use. They shift into a more facilitative role and feel their teaching is more effective because of the technology. Teachers see their students’ learning improve, and some see standardized test performance improve for students with access to technology.
3. Social networking, reflection, and socialization are important factors in adult education in light of technological advances. Tools to use in these new learning environments can be blogs, wikis, podcasts and personal learning environments (PLE). Young adults today have always known technology and they relate to it so to put its’ application into the learning environment keeps them interested. Students are able to collaborate and assist each other in the learning process. This type of interactivity is what young adult have come to expect. These individuals will not buy into an online class in a “nice package” if it bores them, they will lose interest.
